Not everyone can qualify to be a helicopter pilot. Prior to training, you’ll need to meet the requirements below. If you see anything on the list that you think will be an issue, please let us know early on because there may be something we can do.
Federal Pilot Requirements
- Correctable vision to 20/20 (glasses, contacts, Lasik, ok)
- DUIs? Trouble? Bankruptcy? We may be able to help.
- Weight below 220 lbs.*
- Pass an FAA approved medical exam
- At least 18 years old for Commercial Pilot License

Meeting the federal requirements for becoming a helicopter pilot does not guarantee you will be accepted into Mountain Ridge Helicopters flight school. Each student who graduates carries with them the reputation of Mountain Ridge. By carefully selecting our students we are able to maintain a high job placement rate.
